Neural networks operate relatively independently of each other

Schizophrenia caused by aberrant brain structure
The mental problems experienced by schizophrenia patients stem in large part from a disruption in the way events are processed within the hippocampus and parahippocampal region of their brains. This discovery was made recently by neuroscientist Lucia Talamini of the University of Amsterdam (UvA) and a team of researchers from the UvA Academic Medical Center (AMC-UvA) and VU University Amsterdam.

Maarten Bavinck appointed president of Commission on Legal Pluralism
Human Geographer Dr Maarten Bavinck has been appointed president of the Commission on Legal Pluralism. This international committee of the International Union of Anthropological and Ethnological Sciences (IUAES) is affiliated with the International Association of Legal Science (IALS), and serves as a bridge between legal and social science disciplines and social organisations such as the movement for the recognition of indigenous people’s rights.
