Winter Courses in Medical Anthropology

Medical Anthropology is a relatively young and dynamic field. It is the fastest growing specialization in cultural anthropology. The Graduate School of Social Sciences organises each year custom made short courses of two weeks which are designed to offer students both overview and insight into the state of the art of medical anthropological research in three essential themes in health care.

The courses are presented by (inter)national staff and renowned guest lecturers from different universities and the professional field and will take place in January.

The different two week courses are offered in parallel sessions by experts in their fields. The following courses will be offered in January 2013:

  • Culture, Psychology and Psychiatry
  • Anthropology of Sexuality, AIDS and Reproductive Health
  • Medicine and Human Rights: a cultural perspective.

As these courses are aimed at doctoral students, researchers, medical professionals and interventionists working in health related fields, our courses are constructed in such a way that the knowledge can immediately be applied in the work field.

Therefore, these courses also offer them an unique opportunity to exchange inter-cultural professional experiences, and to expand their network contacts.

More information about these winter courses will follow as soon as available.

Please note that the Graduate School of Social Sciences also offers a one-year Master's programme in Medical Anthropology and Sociology. For more information, see link below.
