Comparative Organisation and Labour Studies

The Master's programme in Comparative Labour and Organisation Studies (now called Comparative Organisation and Labour Studies) was exactly what I was looking for, it was pretty intensive but the subjects were very interesting, as well as the way of teaching - the lecturers are always willing to help and there is lots of room for discussions.

The school is great with respect to the atmosphere- it is very international and multicultural, the staff is very kind and helpful. The University of Amsterdam is a university with traditions, built on a perfect location- most of the classes I followed took place in the buildings in the heart of the city. Moreover, there's always a nice place to have a coffee or lunch between the classes or a borrel afterwards!

International Development Studies

The Master's programme in International Development Studies at the ISHSS prepares you for one of the most practical, problem-focussed professions to counter today's socio-economic and political challenges on the globe. It stood out to be the best option in terms of my career aspirations, as compared to all other schools in the Netherlands.

The courses are very strategically designed and very relevant to the intellectual demands of the programme. The lecturers are of top-notch brand, having a very deep understanding of what they teach. They possess such an amazing knowledge in their respective areas, not only theoretically but also practically.

Social Theory and Public Affairs

Teaching social sciences at the ISHSS is a real pleasure.

Having students from different parts of the world present in class provides an array of perspectives and creates a stimulating environment for both students and lecturers. International students are very eager to learn and they participate in lively discussions not only in class but also before and after it. Students often ask probing questions which force the lecturer to be very open and attentive to their interests and interpretations.
